March 2017: Mixed Results
By Larry C. Paxton
March 1st started with a strong uptick after President Trump’s speech the previous evening to the US Congress and citizens. During the rest of the month there were really no wild swings, and a slight trend down. Businesses and people are still trying to figure out the current and future impact of the Trump presidency, how the many personal controversies and issues will be resolved. Overall perhaps March could really be labeled as the “Wait & See Month.”
The US economy does continue to appear to be growing at a modest to moderate pace, but still shows some fragility. Business and consumer surveys indicate optimism.
Investors continue to pretty much tread along, keeping alert for some sure up and down signals.
