The PBR1000 August 2018 Stocks & Commodities Snapshots

August 2018 The PBR1000: Another Big Win for the Stock Market Bull

In August 2018 The Stock Market Bull captured his 5th monthly win of the year. As usual, experts are mixed on how long he can keep the trend going.

By Larry C. Paxton

It was another good month for all 3 major US stock market exchanges. Highlights include Apple(PBR4 $AAPL) being the first US company to hit the $1 trillion market capitalization level. Tech stocks had an especially good month as indicated by the NASDAQ having 18+ trading days to only 5- trading days. US economic growth continues to be robust, unemployment remains low, there are more job openings than qualified people to fill them, but there is also a lack of affordable housing inventory and mortgage rates are climbing. It was another victorious month for the Stock Market Bull, who after 8 months in 2018 now has 5 monthly wins to the Stock Market Bear’s 2 months, with June being the only mixed result.

The PBR1000 July 2018 Stocks & Commodities Snapshots

July 2018: A Convincing Win for the Stock Market Bull and The PBR1000

July 2018 was a good ride as the Stock Market Bull easily prevailed in all 3 major US stock exchanges and forecasts indicating a strong economy for the rest of 2018.

By Larry C. Paxton

The second half of 2018 kicked off in a positive way as data and surveys continue to show strong US economic growth and forecasts indicating more of the same through 2018. There appears to be a trend of trade war concerns which are then followed by actions and negotiations that indicate these will be resolved. US stock exchanges had few ongoing up or down swings and no long positive or negative trends. All in all it was a good month, which the Stock Market Bull clearly won and was good for The PBR1000 as well. The overall monthly records are now the Stock Market Bull ahead 4 months to the Stock Market Bear’s 2 months, with June being the only mixed result.

The PBR1000 June 2018 Stocks & Commodities Snapshots

June 2018: Stocks End First Half With Mixed Results

An emotional month in many ways, ending with a close mixed result between the Stock Market Bull and Stock Market Bear. The stage is set for the start of the 2nd half of 2018.

By Larry C. Paxton

Throughout June there were a lot of emotional ups and downs as trade wars continue to threaten the world economic order. But that was countered by a US economy that continues to show resilience and robustness, especially in the areas of jobs and manufacturing.  At the end of the month the NASDAQ had 6 record days and was up nicely. The DJIA was down a little, the S&P500 countered by being up a little. Surprisingly, US stock exchanges volatility continued to be relatively low. Overall the Stock Market Bull barely edged out the Stock Market Bear with  2 major US stock exchanges up and 1 down for the first mixed monthly result of the year. The record year-to-date is the Stock Market Bull ahead 3 months to the Stock Market Bear’s 2 months, with June being a mixed result.

The PBR1000 May 2018 Stocks & Commodities Snapshots

May 2018: The Stock Market Bull Dominates

The Stock Market Bull wins 2 months in a row. Will geopolitical issues and upcoming US elections stop the streak?

By Larry C. Paxton

The month of May was a lot less volatile than April, at least according to the numbers. With all kinds of geopolitical issues arising creating a lot of uncertainty, and US primary and general elections soon to be center stage, it would seem that volatility should increase. But the US and global economies are doing well, though there are concerns about national debt and employee wage growth is still not growing as much as anticipated. The bottom line is that at the end of the month the Stock Market Bull has won two months in a row and now leads the Stock Market Bear 3 months to 2 months so far in 2018.

The PBR1000 April 2018 Stocks & Commodities Snapshots

April 2018: The Stock Market Bull Wins, But Just Barely

After a 2 month lapse, the Stock Market Bull is back in the game with a narrow win in April.

By Larry C. Paxton

With 9 out of 21 trading days in April being up or down by 1% or more volatility was at its greatest so far in 2018, even though the US and world economies continue to show strong moderate growth, US employment is good, and initial 1Q18 corporate earnings were generally encouraging. But there were headwinds from continued geopolitical concerns about N Korea and renewed issues with the nuclear treaty with Iran. At the end of the month the Stock Market Bull stops the Stock Market Bear at 2 consecutive months and they are now tied at 2 months each for the year.

The PBR1000 March 2018 Stocks & Commodities Snapshots

March 2018: The PBR1000 Gets A Big Stock Market Bear Hug.

Bear with Money ID-100188038 ddpavumba

Volatility is a favorite word for the Stock Market Bear, and it showed up often in March 2018.

By Larry C. Paxton

March featured another month of volatility from international trade as tariffs are threatened, the federal funds rate was increased with more anticipated during the year, there were more additions to the White House’s prestigious “You’re fired!” list, controversies surround the continuing investigation of Russia’s meddling in US elections,  user privacy issues and data breaches continue to dog social media, retail and financial services, and the US President is being assaulted by the media for alleged personal indiscretions, but blows it off as he determinedly strives to achieve the agenda he promised his constituents. Confusion seems to reign in the hearts of investors so it was an easy second month in a row win for the Stock Market Bear.

On the other hand the economic data indicates continued moderate, consistent, and strengthening growth.

Mid-term elections should start heating up soon. It will be interesting to see how the voters respond to all of this in primary and the November general election as issues are debated and promises made by the candidates.

With volatility there are also new opportunities short and long term as the stock market and economy adjusts. It’s a good time to be a full Subscriber to The PBR1000 and The PBRMarketTools US Indices Snapshots!

The PBR1000 October 2017 Stocks & Commodities Snapshots

October 2017: Stocks Have A Nice Gain To Start 4Q17.

Business Bull-ddpavumba ID-100185941

The Stock Market Bull had an excellent October.  Does he have the stamina to continue the run through the end of 2017 and into 2018?

By Larry C. Paxton

Stocks had a nice start to the new quarter, and there are some good reasons why. The economy continues to grow at a steady modest/moderate rate with some indications that it is strengthening. Unemployment is low, manufacturing and services industries continue to show growth, housing is in demand and inventories are low which will trigger growth in construction, consumer confidence indices are positive, just to name a few key economic drivers.

Many of President Trump’s promised initiatives are still mired in the mud pits of Congress, and perhaps rightfully so because they will cause significant change. But there does seem to be a possibility that tax reform could become a reality before the end of the year and that is creating some optimism as well.

There are, of course, also unpredictable counter forces. Natural disasters, geopolitical events, a burst of social upheavals caused by the increasing gap between the “haves” and “have nots.”

We have entered the favorite time of year for retailers. Forecasts are optimistic that consumers are anxious to use their new mobile and online purchasing tools to buy more than ever before.

What does that mean for investors in stocks? Many experts say that the US Stock Market Bull run that has lasted for several years must slow down, but others continue to say that the Bull is strong and has the endurance to run for a lot longer.

So, place you bets one way or the other. If you are undecided, then flip a coin, and flip it again to check your answer. However way you choose, we wish you the best! We also believe that a The PBR1000 Annual Subscription is a great investment in a tool to increase your probability of success, as has been proven over the years.

The PBR1000 September 2017 Stocks & Commodities Snapshots

September 2017: 3Q17 Ends and So Far So Good!

Golden Eggs-Sira Anamwong ID-100489726

The Stock Market Geese laid a lot of very nice Golden Eggs during the first 3 quarters. How big will the 4th quarter basket have to be?

By Larry C. Paxton

At the beginning of the year there was a lot of anticipation about a new US President taking office, a business-friendly guy wanting to make America Great Again, who made a lot of promises, and  who was determined to make them happen.

The feeling of optimism was strong and it was not difficult for prognosticators to predict a good year for investing. But no one came close to the results achieved through the first three quarters of the year.

In the meantime, US and geopolitics being what they are, there have been some detours on the promises, and not many of them have become a reality though the potential and hope is still there. The optimism continues as the Stock Market Bull continues to amaze everyone with a much longer run than anyone could have predicted. As always, there are the doomsday naysayers who say this has to end and the overly eagers who proclaim the Bull has a lot more room to roam.

Let the 4th quarter begin, and with the excitement of the holidays nearly upon us, nearly full employment, and big changes in how we shop, it will be an interesting last quarter of the year for The PBR1000 stocks.

The PBR1000 August 2017 Stocks/Commodities Snapshots

August 2017: The Stock Market Bull Continues to Prevail

ID-100284117-bull market-hywards

The Stock Market Bull stands tall after another triumphant month.

By Larry C. Paxton

Despite concerns over N Korea’s missile tests, a terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain, a controversial rally in Charlottesville, VA, Hurricane Harvey attacking southeast Texas, continued lack of meaningful legislation from Congress, and the world still getting adjusted to a very different style US President, The PBR1000 and other stocks continued to climb in August.

Maybe it’s just one of those “It’s the economy, stupid!” that justifies the rise. Modest/moderate economic growth continues and cautious optimism about the future keeps pushing it along.

As a result investing opinions are still scattered all over the place. This inconsistency should be good news for everyone, because now you can be the expert! If you are wrong, it’s no big deal, you are in a large group. But if you are right, you will be a hero and hopefully have a much higher value portfolio to confirm that. Remember to give The PBR1000 credit!

Good luck, and we look forward to you sharing your success strategies and stories.
