October 2017: Stocks Have A Nice Gain To Start 4Q17.
By Larry C. Paxton
Stocks had a nice start to the new quarter, and there are some good reasons why. The economy continues to grow at a steady modest/moderate rate with some indications that it is strengthening. Unemployment is low, manufacturing and services industries continue to show growth, housing is in demand and inventories are low which will trigger growth in construction, consumer confidence indices are positive, just to name a few key economic drivers.
Many of President Trump’s promised initiatives are still mired in the mud pits of Congress, and perhaps rightfully so because they will cause significant change. But there does seem to be a possibility that tax reform could become a reality before the end of the year and that is creating some optimism as well.
There are, of course, also unpredictable counter forces. Natural disasters, geopolitical events, a burst of social upheavals caused by the increasing gap between the “haves” and “have nots.”
We have entered the favorite time of year for retailers. Forecasts are optimistic that consumers are anxious to use their new mobile and online purchasing tools to buy more than ever before.
What does that mean for investors in stocks? Many experts say that the US Stock Market Bull run that has lasted for several years must slow down, but others continue to say that the Bull is strong and has the endurance to run for a lot longer.
So, place you bets one way or the other. If you are undecided, then flip a coin, and flip it again to check your answer. However way you choose, we wish you the best! We also believe that a The PBR1000 Annual Subscription is a great investment in a tool to increase your probability of success, as has been proven over the years.
